Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer
As the name suggests, the Intra-company Transfer visa allows foreign nationals to enter and work in the UK if their employers want them to work in the UK branch of their organization. Depending on the duration of the employment and nature of the work, there are 4 types of Intra-company Transfer visas offered by the UK government. Here is a quick overview:
Long-term Staff: It is for those foreign employees who have been assigned a role at the UK branch of an organization for a period longer than 12 months. Here the employees must have worked with the organization for at least 12 months already. The maximum duration one can stay in the UK with Long-term Staff visa is 5 years and 14 days.
Short-term Staff: This stream is for those employees who have been transferred to the UK branch of a firm for less than 12 months. Here again, the employee must have worked with the organization for at least 12 months prior to filing for the visa. Under this category, foreign nationals can stay in the UK for a maximum period of 12 months.
Graduate Trainee: As the name suggests, this stream is for recent graduates who are offered a special training program in the UK from their employers. The applicant should at least have an experience of 3 months with the organization. Under Graduate Trainee stream as well, foreign nationals can stay in the UK for 12 months.
Skills Transfer: This stream is for highly skilled foreign employees who are invited to the UK to share their work knowledge, experience and skills. For this stream, there are no time limits regarding how long an employee must have worked for the employer. The Skills Transfer Intra-company Transfer visa allows foreign nationals to stay and perform their duties in the UK for up to 6 months.
Dependent family members can also accompany the main applicant on the Tier-2 Intra-company Transfer visa. Dependent family member in this context means spouse and children below 18 years of age.
