Application Fee, forms and Appeals
The Government of Australia offers a number of channels to allow immigrants to apply for Australian citizenship. For each channel, there are different requirements, different modes of lodging the application, different application fee, and different processes. For some application forms, the Government of Australia offers fee exemptions and concessions. Below is given a detail of fee applicable under different categories of forms.
Form 1300t (Australian citizenship – General eligibility)
Fee: $260*
Fee Concession**: $40
Fee for child/children under 16 applying on the same form as the parent: Nil
Form 1290 (Australian citizenship – Other Situations)
Fee: $130
Fee Concession*: $20
Fee for child/children under 16 applying on the same form as the parent: Nil
* All fees are listed in AUD (Australian dollar).
** For those who hold a valid concession card.
In addition, following persons are not required to pay application fee:
A British or a Maltese child migrant, who came to Australia between 22ndSeptember 1947 and 31stDecember 1967, under the Commonwealth Child Migration Scheme.
A person who has served in Australia Permanent Forces of Commonwealth for 90 days.
The following forms have no fee concessions and exemptions.
Form 118 (Australian citizenship by descent)
Fee: $120
For the first sibling applying at the same time: $120
For second and each subsequent sibling applying at the same time: $95
Form 1272 (Australian citizenship by adoption)
Fee: $120
For the first sibling applying at the same time: $120
For second and each subsequent sibling applying at the same time: $95
Form 119 (Application for evidence of Australia citizenship)
Fee: $60
Form 128 (Application for renunciation of Australian citizenship)
Fee: $285
Form 132 (Application to resume Australian citizenship)
Fee: $70
Fee for child/children under 16 applying on the same from as parent: Nil
Payment Method
If you are applying from within Australia then you can pay through a credit card, bank cheque, or money order at Australian immigration department. In case you are applying from outside Australia, then you need to confirm at the Australian government office near you about the payment method and currency they accept.
