There has been a significant rise inthe number of jobs in technology and engineering sectors, in Australia. The Australiangovernment, through its Skilled-Recognized Graduate visa (subclass 476), allows international students to work in Australia and gain skilled work experience for a limited period.
If you are below 31 years of age and have completed an engineering degree in the past two years, from a recognized institution, then you can apply for subclass 476 visa. While applying for this visa, you must also meet certain health, character and English language proficiency requirements. If you are not a citizen of the UK, the US, Canada, New Zealand and Republic of Ireland then you must score at least 6 in each of the four sections of IELTS examination.
Note that you cannot apply for this visa as a subsequent visa. And, if you have already held a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) then also you cannot apply for this visa.
In addition, you must have completed one of the following engineering courses in order to become eligible for this visa.
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree
Doctoral degree
Postgraduate diploma
Engineering streams eligible for subclass 476 visa are:
Civil engineering
Structural engineering
Chemical engineering
Environmental engineering
Electrical and Electronics engineering
Mechanical, Production and Plant engineering
Mining and Material engineering
The subclass 476 visa allows you to work and travel in Australia for 18 months without any restrictions. During your stay in Australia you can also enroll in a professional course to hone your professional skills, or an English language course to improve your language proficiency. However, you cannot bring your family members to Australia on this visa.
