This visa allows foreign nationals, who have recently graduated from an Australian education institute or have skills that are in high demand in Australia, to come and work in Australia.The subclass 485 visa has following two streams.
Graduate Work: This stream is for those overseas students who have graduated from a recognized educational institution and have skills related to an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Under this stream, the subclass 485 visa remains valid for 18 months.
Post-Study Work: This stream is for those international students who have recently completed a higher education degree in Australia. Under this stream, students are allowed to stay and find work in Australia for a period of 4 years. However, only international students who received their first Australian visa on and after 5 November 2011can apply under this visa stream.
To apply under the Post-Study Work stream you must meet the following requirements:
You must be holding an eligible visa, (subclass 572, 573 and 574)
You are at least competent in English
You have studied in Australia for at least 2 years
In addition, an applicant must be below 50 years of age to become eligible to apply for this visa. Also, you cannot apply for this visa as a subsequent visa.
The subclass 485 visa allows you to work, travel and study in Australia during your stay here. You can also bring your dependent family members to Australia on this visa.
